I am the second owner of this '67 Mustang which started life as a special order color car (1965 Poppy Red...Ford used it again in 1970 but called it Calypso Coral) with a 200 6 cyl, C4 tranny and typical 6 cylinder drive train including manual steering and brakes with the smaller drum brakes on all four wheels.  I installed new floor pans, trunk floor, hood, quarter panels, fenders, and due to an accident that totaled this car in 1986, all new frame metal from the firewall forward. After 14 years of work, on and off at times, the car was finished just in time for the 2001 Tri-State Mustang Club show where it took first place in the 65-73 Modified Mustang class.

This car is no trailer queen.  I drive this car to attend shows and club events.....and to scare the local "Chebby" boys on occasion!

Some stats:

Engine: 1968 Thunderbird "Thunderjet" 429 w/460 crank @ .060 overbore (472 cubes), 72cc heads, TRW forged pistons @ 10.5:1 compression, Edelbrock Performer II intake and Edelbrock 750 carb.  Ford Motorsport Hydraulic Cam = .563 Intake @ 312 duration, .588 Exhaust @ 322 duration, Approx 450 hp (not dyno'd yet!).

Transmission: 1968 C-6 with Shift kit, clutch kit,  Coen 2500 stall converter, larger sized servo, and extra capacity chrome pan.

Rear Axle: 9" with 3:50 gears and Detroit Locker.  Also has disc brakes - axle came from a 1978 Lincoln Versailles.  Versailles axles have the same spring perch dimensions as the '67 & '68 Mustangs, but are 1" narrower on each side, thus allowing wider wheels and tires to be run.

Suspension: All suspension has been replaced and upgraded to V8 weight and performance standards including new springs (429 Torino), A arms lowered 1" per Shelby specs, 1 1/8" front sway bar w/ ploy bushings, new rear leaf springs w/poly bushings, Monte Carlo Bar and Export Brace, and welded frame connectors.  Original manual steering swapped for '67 factory Ford power assist steering.

Hooves: 15 x 5.5 Weld Pro Star wheels with P205/70 BF Goodrich up front, 15 x 10 Weld Pro Star wheels with P265/50 tires in rear.

Brakes: '69 Mustang disc brakes up front, Versailles discs in rear, '67 Power Booster,  '86 Windstar Master Cylinder w/line lock (a.k.a "Roll Control").

Exhaust: Custom chrome shorty headers with 2 1/2" exhaust. Flowmaster Delta Force 3-chamber mufflers, Flowmaster H pipe, Flowmaster mandrel bent rear pipes.

Other: Custom aluminum 2 row radiator, Separate B&M tranny and motor oil coolers, Retractable shoulder belt seat belts at all 4 seating positions, Power Steering added, Power Brakes added, Auto meter oil and H2O temp gauges in factory instrument cluster, functional Cobra Jet hood scoop, Grant Vintage Mustang steering wheel, B&M Megashifter,  trunk mounted battery, high torque starter.  Driveshaft is an authentic 4" diameter NASCAR piece made from moly steel.
